How is the short URL redirection made?

1 answer

Delivr has a database that associates the Long URL (Destination URL) with a Short URL. When a person accesses the Short URL, the browser will instantly redirect to the Destination URL (Long URL). Redirection is the process of forwarding one URL to a different URL. There are three main kinds of redirects: 301, 302, and meta refresh. Delivr uses a "301 redirect" that is better than "302 redirect" or meta refresh for URL Shorteners. 301 means that the redirection is permanent and it passes link juice (for search engine better ranking) to your destination page.
