  Dynamic QR codes don’t encode your final destination directly. Instead, they contain a managed Short URL that redirects to your chosen Destination URL.

  You enter a long Destination URL into Delivr’s Dynamic QR Code Generator.v The system generates a unique short URL, stores both the short URL and the QR code in a database and encodes the short URL into the QR code.

  Why 302 Redirects Are Used

  Delivr uses 302 (Temporary) redirects for dynamic QR codes because they allow destinations to be updated at any time while preventing browser, CDN, or search-engine caching. This ensures scans are always routed to the correct destination and that analytics remain accurate over the lifetime of a QR code.

  A 302 redirect signals that the target URL may change. This makes it essential for managed short URLs used in QR codes, where destinations may be updated, rotated between campaigns, or varied by audience, location, or context.

  While 302 redirects are the best choice for dynamic QR codes, other redirect types exist and may be used in different scenarios outside of dynamic QR use cases.

  Best for managed short URLs and dynamic QR codes where destinations may change over time.   301 Permanent Redirect

  Indicates that a URL has permanently moved and that SEO value should be passed to the destination. Because 301 redirects are commonly cached by browsers and CDNs, they are not suitable for dynamic QR codes that may need to change destinations later. A 301 redirect is appropriate only when a short URL is intended to be a permanent, unchanging bridge.

  307 Temporary Redirect

  Functions like a 302 redirect but preserves the original HTTP request method (such as POST). This redirect type is typically used for APIs or form submissions and is uncommon in QR code scanning scenarios, where GET requests are the norm.

  Visitors whose language does not match any of your rules will be sent to your campaign’s default Destination URL.

  How do I route visitors by country?

  1. In the Country-specific URLs section:
     Select a country from the dropdown menu.
     • Enter the URL you want visitors from that country to be redirected to.
       Click the green plus icon to add the rule.
  2. After adding or editing a rule:
     Click the blue checkmark icon to save that row.

  Note: Each row must be saved individually. If you begin editing a new row without saving the previous one, any unsaved changes will be lost.

  What happens to users from locations not listed?

  Any users who do not match a defined geotargeting rule will be redirected to your campaign’s default Destination URL, which acts as the fallback link for all unspecified regions.

  Can I geotarget by state or province?

  Yes. Delivr supports geolocation-based routing by:

  • U.S. States
  • Canadian Provinces
  • Mexican States

  These options appear within the same Geotargeting URLs section. The setup process is identical to country targeting:

  1. Choose the region.
  2. Enter the custom URL.
     Click the green plus icon to add.
  3. Save the row with the blue checkmark.

  Can I edit or remove a geotargeting rule?

  Yes. You can:

  • an existing URL by updating the field and clicking the blue checkmark.
  • a rule by clicking the trash bin icon next to the entry (if available).

  Do I need to reprint my QR code after adding geotargeting?

  No. Delivr short URLs and QR codes are dynamic. Any geotargeting logic you apply is handled server-side, so your existing printed or distributed codes will continue to work without modification.

  What are typical use cases for geotargeting URLs?

  • Serve regional promotions or country-specific landing pages.
  • Share localized event details for different regions.
  • Run segmented marketing campaigns with one short link.

  Can I bulk upload or automate Geotargeting Rules?

  Yes. For large-scale deployments, Delivr supports bulk Geotargeting URL setup via spreadsheet import. This is ideal for managing multiple regional URLs across a global campaign.

  How Accurate Are Geotargeting URLs?

  The IP geolocation databases we use are highly reliable, offering 99.8% accuracy at the country level. This ensures that, in most cases, users are directed to the correct country-specific content based on their IP address.

  Factors that affect IP Geolocation accuracy.

  Several technical factors influence how precisely an IP address maps to a physical location:

  • IP Type. Accuracy can differ based on the type of IP address. For example, IPv6 addresses tend to have more consistent location mapping than IPv4, and broadband IPs are generally more stable than those assigned via cellular networks.
  • Mobile Networks. IPs assigned to mobile users are often dynamically assigned and routed through centralized carrier infrastructure, making them harder to pinpoint.
  • VPNs and Proxies. These services mask the user’s actual location by rerouting traffic through remote servers, often in other countries—drastically reducing accuracy.
  • ISP Practices. Internet Service Providers may assign IP addresses in broad geographic blocks and often use dynamic IPs, which can change frequently and further reduce location precision.

  Why device location may still be inaccurate.

  Even when IP geolocation is used in combination with device-based services, accuracy isn’t always guaranteed:

  • Device-level location services (GPS, Wi-Fi triangulation, Bluetooth) require user consent and are only accessible in certain contexts—such as apps or browser sessions with location permissions enabled.
  • Users may disable or block location sharing, intentionally or through privacy settings, which limits the ability to gather precise data.

  Additionally, corporate Wi-Fi, public hotspots, and network routing quirks can all contribute to inconsistent or misleading location data.

  Improve Location Accuracy

  To track scans with greater precision, enable GPS location tracking (with user permission). When activated, you can capture the GPS coordinates for each scan and use them to generate more accurate location reports. Steps to Enable the Location Prompt

  1. Edit Your Campaign
     In the campaign row, click the Edit Campaign (pencil) icon to open the campaign settings.
  2. Find the Location Prompt Section
     Scroll to the Location Prompt section. Here, you can also configure alternate destination URLs based on the user’s detected geolocation.
  3. Enable GPS Location Requests
     For Prompt users for their GPS location?, select Yes.
  4. Customize the Prompt Screen
     When enabled, an intermediate screen will appear after scan or click, asking users to optionally share their device’s location. You can personalize this screen at the account level with your logo for a branded experience.

  Best practices for Geotargeting Campaigns.

  To ensure a smooth user experience despite these limitations:

  • Use IP-based targeting for country-level redirection, which is highly reliable.
  • Set up fallback logic (e.g., default to a global or English-language page) for users whose location cannot be confidently determined.
  • Where possible, leverage device-level location services to refine targeting—especially in mobile-first campaigns or apps.

  When You Can Use the UTM Builder with Geotargeting URLs

  Use the UTM Builder when the same UTM parameters apply to all links in the campaign — including both the default Destination URL and any country-specific Geotargeting URLs. In this case, the builder will automatically append the UTM parameters to each link during redirection.

  When You Cannot Use the UTM Builder with Geotargeting URLs

  Do not use the UTM Builder if any UTM parameters vary between links.In such cases, you must:

  • Build out the full URLs yourself (using Google's UTM Builder or another tool), and
    Enter those fully tagged URLs directly into the platform, either manually or by spreadsheet upload.

  Important

  You cannot enter parameters in both the UTM Builder and at the individual link level. Choose one approach based on your use case — either apply parameters universally using the UTM Builder, or manually tag each link as needed.

  What Happens for Other Devices?

  Devices that don’t match your application-specific rules (e.g., desktop or unsupported OS) will be redirected to your campaign’s default Destination URL.

  Clear Application Rules

  You can remove all device-specific rules by clicking “Clear All” in the Application URLs section. This will revert all traffic to the default Destination URL.

  It has been announced that in 2027, a new standard will replace the Universal Product Codes (UPC) that have been in use for nearly 50 years. This groundbreaking standard will use QR codes encoded with a GS1 Digital Link, providing a range of benefits for businesses and consumers alike.

  The upgrade to QR codes will enable every product to become smartphone interactive, allowing consumers to connect with products seamlessly. This will enable transactions with point-of-sale systems, providing a more efficient and convenient shopping experience. GS1 Digital Link will also provide supply chain traceability, ensuring that each product can be tracked from its inception to its final destination.

  GS1 has long been recognized for creating a global business language based on unique and unambiguous identification. This identification is encoded in data carriers like QR codes and RFID tags, and it is essential for business processes that rely on those identifiers.   The World Wide Web is an environment that allows people and companies to access and share information on anything, including products and services.   The GS1 Digital Link Standard defines how to structure web URIs to include additional information like batch/lot, expiration date, serial number, and other GS1 keys like GLN (Global Location Number) and SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code). This powerful standard enables a single, standardized QR code to perform multiple online and offline functions, reducing the need for numerous codes on packaging. • What is a URL shortener?
  A URL shortener is an online tool that converts your long links into shorter ones. Shortened links are clean, easy to share and memorize.
  
  

  A URL Shortener is an online application that converts a regular URL (a web address) into a condensed format. The user only has to copy the full URL of a website and paste it into a URL shortening tool to come up with an abbreviated version. A URL Shortener allows users to shorten very long links into shorter ones that are better suited for e-mailing, instant messaging, QR code or NFC Tag encoding and for services that restrict character counts.  Other uses of URL shortening are to "beautify" a link and track clicks.

  Often regular unshortened links may be aesthetically unpleasing. Many web developers pass descriptive attributes in the URL to represent data hierarchies, command structures, transaction paths or session information. Marketing departments and their ad agencies add campaign parameters. This can result in URLs that are hundreds of characters long and that contain complex character patterns. Such URLs are difficult to memorize, type-out or distribute. As a result, long URLs must be copied-and-pasted for reliability. Thus, short URLs may be more convenient for websites or hard copy publications (e.g. a printed magazine or a book), the latter often requiring that very long strings be broken into multiple lines (as is the case with some e-mail software or internet forums) or truncated.

  On Twitter and some instant-messaging services, there is a limit to the number of characters a message can carry. Using a URL shortener can allow linking to web pages which would otherwise violate this constraint. Delivr generates Short URLs that are friendly and human-readable.
  
  URLs encoded in two-dimensional barcodes such as QR code are shortened by Delivr's URL shortener in order to reduce the printed area of the code and allow printing at lower density (less complexity) in order to improve scanning reliability.

• What is URL shortening?
  URL shortening is a technique that converts a long web address into a much shorter one while still directing users to the same destination. It works by creating a redirect—typically on a shorter, branded domain—that points to the original long URL.
  
  

• How can you know from where a visitor is opening a Short URL?
  Delivr uses two methods to locate the End User’s device: the IP address method and the Device GPS Location method (where GPS stands for Global Positioning System).
  
  

  The Device GPS Location method requires permission from the End-user to allow End-user’s device to send the location information to Delivr (delivr.com).

  The IP address method is based on the public IP address that the End-user’s device is using when the End-user clicks through a short link, or scans a QR Code, taps a NFC tag, or interacts with a Delivr-supported technology in some other way. This public IP address is typically based on the network that the End-user’s device is connected to. It can be a mobile operator (carrier) network, a Wi-Fi network, or an organization or a company network. The important consequence of this is that the location associated with that public IP address is typically the location of the network element such as a gateway, or a router, which may or may not be located in close proximity of the End-user’s device. In majority of cases, the location information obtained this way is accurate to the state or city level, but it is important to note that this is not always the case.  An example: an End-user travelling to Europe might be accessing the Internet through his WiFi access point connected to his company’s main network in US via a secure VPN connection while scanning a QR code in her hotel room; as the public IP address of End-user’s device will be in US, the location registered by Delivr will be in US as well. If that same End-user disconnects from her company’s VPN, connects to the mobile network and scans the same QR code, this new scan will now be registered with  a European location of the IP address of the European mobile operator’s network that her device connected to.

  The Device GPS Location method involves Delivr getting the most precise GPS location data (latitude and longitude) directly from the End-user’s device at the time of interaction (click, scan or tap). The End-user must provide permission to allow her device to send the information to Delivr; if the End-user denies such permission, Delivr falls back to the IP address method. The accuracy of the GPS location data is reliable and much more accurate than the location data obtained through the IP address method. It is network-independent, so regardless of the accuracy the location represents the actual location of the End-user’s device at the time of the action. The accuracy is not always the same; it typically varies depending on the End-user’s device GPS receiver quality, environmental conditions including cell size, atmospheric effects and obstructions to get strong  GPS satellite signals.  Real-world data collected by the FAA (US Federal Aviation Administration) show that the accuracy of GPS devices is increasing.  Many modern devices with GPS can potentially have better than 1 meter (3 feet) horizontal accuracy.

• Are the stats for my short URL private?
  Yes, by default Delivr provides 100% private and secure click data and reports. However, there are methods for you to make reports available to others.
  
  

   

   

• How can I manage the short URLs that I create?
  You can change the destination of the Short URL that you've created at anytime.
  
  

  You must be logged in to your Account Dashboard:

  1. Sign into your Account Dashboard: https://delivr.com/signin
  2. Click "Edit" for the link that you want to change
  3. Update the URL in the Destination URL field and SAVE.

  You can also view reports for your Short URLs  and otherwsie manage them from your Account Dashboard.

• Can I use my own domain for the Short URLs that are generated in my account?
  Yes, with Delivr PRO and Delivr ENTERPRISE. Under these plans, your Short URLs can use a branded short domain (or subdomain). Branded short domains replace the “delivr.com” in your links with your brand name.
  
  
• Can I reactivate an expired short URL?
  Yes. You will need to upgrade your account to a paid subscription plan. Short URLs do NOT expire under a paid subscription plan.
  
  
• Does the Short URL have an expiration date?
  The expiration for a Short URL under the Delivr FREE plan is 90days from creation date or 1000 views, which ever comes first. For continued use an upgrade to a subscription plan is required.
  
  

  Delivr PLUS, Delivr PRIME, Delivr VIP, Delivr PRO, and Delivr ENTERPRISE Short URLs do NOT expire under an active paid subscription plan.

• Is the Short URL generated by Delivr's URL Shortener case sensitive?
  No, the Short URL that is generated by Delivr's URL Shortener is NOT case sensitive. So if your Short URL is "https://delivr.com/abcde" (lower case), then "HTTPS://DELIVR.COM/ABCDE" (upper case) will also work.
  
  
• Can I use my domain at Delivr?
